Security and maintenance
How do we manage our facilities?
As a student, you have access to a range of facilities at your disposal. However, this privilege means that you should be aware of the rules and safety measures that apply in different situations.
Cleaning of premises
All students should keep good order and clean up after themselves in common areas and workshops. For your own sake, please keep the student kitchen tidy and clean. All cleaning of the student kitchen is the responsibility of the students (except for the cleaning of the floors).
Due to fire hazards, materials or finished artworks shouldn't be stored in corridors or stairwells. Fire authorities require clear escape routes and the school risks serious consequences if the rules are not followed. Any material, furniture or artwork stored in corridors or stairwells without permission will therefore be removed and/or discarded.
Project studios and photo studios must also be restored and cleaned after use.
As a rule of thumb: Always leave the premises as you found them!
Evacuation and security procedures
Unfortunately, from time to time unauthorised persons try to enter the school. We therefore urge everyone to be extra vigilant and careful to minimise their success in doing so:
- Do not let anyone in who does not belong at the school
- Do not leave your studio door unlocked
- Report immediately to school staff if you see unauthorised persons in the building
- Do not put yourself at unnecessary risk - call 112 in case of emergency or LU's emergency phone 046-222 07 00 (+46 46 222 07 00). Don't forget to dial zero first if you are calling from an internal phone!
The emergency phone goes to Lund University's own security guard/emergency person who is on duty around the clock. Securitas is hired for security assignments. The emergency phone can be used by everyone, both students and staff.
The school is equipped with a fire alarm that is connected directly to the fire brigade. In the event of an alarm, a signal sounds in all corridors. It is important to always go directly to the schoolyard, which acts as the meeting place in case of a fire. Knock on the studios you pass on your way out to make everyone aware that they must leave. Check the evacuation boards, located on each floor, for alternative escape routes.
The evacuation plans are attached below and you must memorise the escape routes.

Student kitchens
Both Båghallarna and Dimman have kitchens that are available to students. You can store and prepare your food there, and the kitchens are equipped with everything you might need.
The kitchens are the responsibility of the students, and the cleaning of the kitchens is also the responsibility of the students. Make sure you leave it clean and do not leave old food in the fridge.
